Kun ostimme peliä varastoon, jokaisesta kappaleesta meni 2€ Ukrainalle. Erikoisuutena tämä roolipeli on painettu sanomalehtipaperille.
WHAT'S THIS ABOUT?
MAREVO is a TTRPG of folk-horror mystery set in an indifferent city.
Inspired by "Supernatural", "Grimm" and post-punk vibes, this game reimagines urban fantasy and mystery adventures.
Ukrainian folklore stirs to life between crumbling panel blocks, brutalist monuments, and overgrown parks where the streetlights haven't worked in years.
The modified Rooted in Trophy engine makes a perfect match for a game designed for short, high-stakes campaigns of decaying dreams and social horror.
Players are part of a state institution— a team assembled from those rare individuals capable of remembering the GROTESQUE. Ironically, your own merits are rarely remembered.
Your equipment is decade out of date, and the pay is nowhere near enough to justify the risk. You aren't heroes; you are just investigators handling "loony cases" for a paycheck — or perhaps for reasons you keep to yourself. It ain’t much, but it’s honest work.
Most cases are unremarkable. But when you are at the table — THE OTHER is here, THE DISASTER is imminent, SOMEONE in those apartments doesn't belong. If you can't figure out who they are and how to stop them… this is where your story ends.
WHAT'S SPECIAL HERE?
- Easy to master: the detailed Case Generator allows you to prepare a fertile environment for the bizarre events of your game in no time.
- Easy to play: inspired by "Rooted in Trophy", the system has easy rules that allow you to create characters and start investigating in an instant!
- Environment: a community-based approach to character and plot development provides the clues and connections needed for real drama.
- Others: these mystical characters from Ukrainian mythology are deeply described based on real records of animistic folklore, fairy tales and stories. Their traits, behavior, abilities and vulnerabilities — all provides content needed for players' investigation and host's improvisation.
WILL THERE BE MORE?
- Yes.
- Definitely.
- Absolutely.
- My goal is to share personal research as a religious studies master in a TTRPG form. I chose this small format only so I could begin somewhere. Here you'll see how it'll grow and update, with more space for illustrations, defining Others, thematic Disasters, Communities and expanded take on Vision. Hope to hear your thoughts on what already is here so I could make every update better!
